To the Jews night and darkness symbolizes a world without God. Many of the awful things that happened to Jews happened at night. This makes them believe they are in a world without God.

Night is very scary to me. If I was the Jews this would be the worst time for me. They had no idea what was going to happen to them throughout the night and the fact that night already represents a world without God would have only made it worse. To me this also makes me think of how mean the people are here and how dark they were to murder so many innocent people.
